A mens pool team is celebrating their first win in a local league cup.

Haydonian Community Lounge and Bar in Haydon Bridge's pool team has won their first game in six years.

The team of seven men played in the Haltwhistle’s league, cup league against other local clubs.

The players play regularly on a Monday night at the club and have shown it has not gone to waste.

One of the team Captains Craig Stanners said: " It was a great feeling to win the cup.

"Everything was really buzzing about it for everyone who was involved.

"It was the first time for around six years that we won.

"It was a cup final that we won three games to get to the final.

"Going into the game I was fairly confident in the squad as we had a team of strong players but it was a tough game against a good comrades squad.

"They all played a vital part as a team in the competitions in the league."

Craig runs the team with Jimmy Carruthers and has done for the last four years when they merged two separate teams together.

The pool teams at the club have been going for the last 20 years.
