A NEW monthly indoor market is coming to a Tynedale village.

CH Event already runs a popular monthly indoor market at Hexham Abbey, as well as markets at The Sill.

And now they will be hosting a new monthly indoor market at Corbridge Parish Hall.

Cheryl Hutchinson, who started CH Event in 2018, said: "I lived in Corbridge for around 15 years with my parents when I was younger. I know the village well, and we had been looking to do a market in Corbridge for a while.

"I had spoken to the Parish Hall before Covid-19, and then obviously with everything that happened we had to put that on pause.

"Now things are starting out again and people are a bit more enthusiastic, we thought now is a really good time to start doing it."

The markets include a wide variety of traders, from people who make pens to local jewellers and painters.

"Anything you can think of, you can probably find!" said Cheryl, who lives in Haydon Bridge.

"The traders always do well at the events.

"I think people appreciate the craft that has gone into things. They're not mass-produced items, they're a bit more quirky and a bit more special.

"The vast majority of the traders are local, and that's always been the plan - to give an outlet for local traders."

Traders pay around £20-25 for a stall at CH Event markets.

"A lot of markets cost fortunes whereas I try and keep mine quite low-cost, so people can do them regularly and they're not thinking 'Oh I've got to make so much before I even hit profit'," said Cheryl, who also owns an online sweet business, The Petite Sweet Company.

CH Event have also hosted markets elsewhere in Tynedale, including Wylam and Allendale, and also run wedding fairs.

The first market will be at Corbridge Parish Hall on Saturday, March 26. Entry is free.
