THE dates of visiting Hexham's French twin have been confirmed for 2022 by The Hexham Town Twinning Committee.

The Hexham Town Twinning Committee has confirmed the dates for the next visit to Hexham's twin in Noyon, France.

This will take place over the August bank holiday from Friday, 26 August to Monday, 29 August.

Gerry Parkinson, Hexham Town Twinning Noyon Co-ordinator, asks those interested to let the Committee know they wish to join by Friday, February 11.

"These visits take place every year, alternating between Hexham receiving friends from our twin towns or visiting them, so we visit once every two years," he said.

"Clearly the pandemic has prevented these visits over the last two years, but we hope to re-establish our visits this year," he added.

Once they know how many people are travelling to Noyon, exact costs can be calculated for each person and customers will fill an application form out and provide a deposit.

If you wish to travel to Noyon by coach, the ferry will transport you from Dover to Calais, which will cost approximately £210 per adult dependent on the numbers of people travelling.

"Twinning not only allows for the development of lasting friendships with people from different countries, but also provides an insight into experiences of different cultures and customs," Gerry explained.

They estimate costs for children and young people will cost £100 or less per individual. Minimum age for an unaccompanied young person is 16 years old.

Accommodation will be provided by French hosts in their own accommodation.
