A SINGER and songwriter will perform at The Vault in Hexham, on Friday, April 29.

The singer Martin Stephenson will perform at The Vault in Hexham.

Inspired by music of the Brighton scene while he was growing up, Martin began his music career busking at age 15.

After creating his eclectic style from a range of influences including jazz, blues, reggae and country music, Martin established his own band called The Daintees.

Each album they have released covers a multitude of genres and moods. His career now spans an impressive 40 years.

In 1985, they became the backing band of Roy Buchannan on a tour of Europe. As a solo artist, Martin has toured with artists including Hothouse Flowers and Janice Ian. He now splits his time between solo and collaborative projects with band albums and annual Daintees tours.
