The Zoo will reopen on Monday, January 17 after closing for winter. Visit the snow leopards, donkeys, or lemurs before heading to Bear Falls Cafe for refreshments.

2. Traditional Burns Supper

Celebrate Burns Night with traditional live entertainment from Andy Grant and the Northumberland Scottish Pipes and Drums, a wee dram to toast the haggis, and a delicious menu to commemorate Robbie Burns. Tickets are £35 per head.

3. Live music at The Golden Lion

Joe Devanney will be performing live at The Golden Lion, which has an energetic atmosphere and serves home-cooked food from 12pm until 9pm.

4. Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre

New to the centre this year is the exciting GO WILD in the rainforest softplay area. The bouldering wall is suitable for all children over five years and is a fun way to get active.

5. Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre

Where? Cornhill-on-Tweed

Come face to face with the beautiful gentle giants Clydesdale horses, and other rare breeds of sheep and pigs at the centre.

6. Pedal Power Cycling Hire

Get out and about on any kind of bike you could imagine, including tandem bikes, E-Bikes, or mountain bikes. Pedal Power can deliver the bike to your holiday home or hotel.

7. Beamish Museum

Where? Beamish, County Durham

Pay a visit to the 1950's Town, which has opened the Welfare Hall and Community Centre and has exhibitions of the beginnings of the NHS. Other exhibitions in the 1950's Town, such as John's Cafe, will be opening soon.

8. Solway Coast: Stories from 1900

Where? Bowness-on-Solway, Solway Coast, Cumbria

Live performances, talks, and videos bring life to 1,900 years of history to celebrate the anniversary of the construction of Hadrian's Wall. There will be Roman, Viking and Norman living history displays.

9. Sunday dinner at the Blackbird Pub

Where? The Blackbird, Ponteland

Having just been shortlisted for Pub of The Year at the North East Tourism Awards 2022, why not pay a visit and see why? Their traditional Sunday lunches include more adventurous options, such as sea bream, for those fancying something different to try.

10. Obscurum - Lux

Where? Segedunum Roman Fort

When? Saturday, January 22

An art installation which explores the Roman Fort of Segedunum in a different light. Explore how different rooms would have looked by candelight, or see the soldier barracks by the light of campfire. Light and colour illustrate the roles of various areas.
