A STREAMING platform launched by an independent cinema is proving popular.

Forum Cinema at Home, which has been available online since the end of November, features a selection of films hand-picked by the cinema based in Hexham.

Chris Kelly, Marketing Officer at the Forum Cinema, said: "It's going really well. It's given us an opportunity to show some films that we wouldn't normally have the chance to do so.

"We've had comments from people saying that they don't necessarily want to come to the cinema at the minute because of the pandemic, and so it gives them an option to see films that they might not have already seen.

"That's been I guess the nicest response, that it's giving people who can't come to the cinema an option."

The selection of films are updated every month, and range from family favourites, recent releases, and themed films to link with screenings at the cinema.

New additions this month include Death on the Nile and The Courier.

Chris added: "A big thing that we will be looking at in the future is getting content and films from local creators and being able to showcase their work on the platform."

The films are available to rent for seven days, and once you have started to watch the film, you have 48 hours to complete it.

Each film costs £6 to rent.
