JIVE ALIVE, Hexham's popular jive club, closed its doors on Wednesday, December 15 for the Christmas holidays.

The final session celebrated the Christmas period, with two dancers dressed as Mother Christmas.

Everyone, from beginners to advanced dancers, are encouraged to attend.

Tony Brookes, club member, said lack of experience is no reason not to join: "We've all started off with two left feet!"

Jive Alive suffered depleted dancer numbers when their sessions began again after lockdown.

Numbers of dancers are slowly rising, and it is hoped regular dancers will soon return to fill the club with movement.

Jive Alive sessions take place weekly on Wednesdays, at Torch Centre on Corbridge Road in Hexham, from 8pm until 10pm.

Entry to join the club is £4, and as a member, your first session is free. Funds raised go to local charities, including Stop Gap Supported Housing.

Dancing sessions will recommence after New Year, on Wednesday, January 12.
