A craft group are celebrating the success of donated Christmas trees for festival.

Members of a group called, St Holy Cross Craft Group are celebrating the response of an appeal for decorated Christmas trees from local community groups.

The idea of the appeal was for community groups to decorate and donate their own individual Christmas trees to then be presented at a festival at Holy Cross Church in Haltwhistle.

Norma Philips, 75, of Haltwhistle, one of the members of the group said: "The Christmas tree festival came from the idea of our craft club exhibition which was successful. This was then turned into the idea of doing a Christmas tree festival exhibition.

"We invited local groups such as; youth groups, WI and Brownies to send us their decorated Christmas trees.

"We did not expect to see many but in the end we received 14."

The trees are on display until Christmas Eve, visitors who wish to see them can visit at different viewing times, 10 am till 12pm and 2 till 4 pm.

You do not need to book an appointment or call, you can just turn up at the allotted times.
