FAMILIES across the district flock to local first and primary schools during the most wonderful time of the year to watch their little angels in their nativity performances.

A perfect way to kick-start the Christmas holidays, talented young cast members often spend weeks learning lines, practising songs, preparing costumes and rehearsing together.

And while this year could be a little bit different, rest assured, the show will go on, with some special events made available online or taking on a new, stream-lined format to allow the joy of Christmas to still be felt.

Whether it's a traditional nativity or a modern take on the 2,000-year-old story, the youngsters take the spotlight with pride - a relief for teachers who have worked hard to plan the memorable performances and a joy for parents to see.

Here, as we countdown to Christmas, we've rounded up some of our favourite pictures of nativities gone by for you to enjoy - do you spot anyone you know?
