Winter wonderland 'toppers' on post boxes receive positive reactions in Bardon Mill.

Residents of Bardon Mill have been treated to two knitted winter scenes 'toppers' on post boxes by Bardon Mill WI.

The idea was first thought of when the Bardon Mill WI had left over material from their last project during Covid and lockdown.

Moira Bengtson, of Bardon Mill and secretary of Bardon Mill's WI, said: "Last Christmas Bardon Mill WI ladies made over 400 little knitted 'Hope Angels' to cheer everyone up, and we distributed them over a three week period through Bardon Mill on trees and bushes for anyone to take home and put on their Christmas Trees.

"We had some unfinished left-over angels which inspired the idea of making post-box 'Toppers' for this year".

She adds:"In November the WI 'Chat and Chill' group ladies very quickly knitted Santas, Presents, Snowmen and Rudolphs and the toppers were put together."

The WI started knitting two toppers last month and only recently has been put on top of the post boxes in the village. They have worked hard to boost Bardon Mill's Christmas spirit and it has not gone unnoticed as it has been greatly appreciated by residents in the village.

Moira said: "We've been blown away by the positive reactions from the people who live in our lovely village...they all loved our 'Hope Angels' last year, and seem to like the 'Toppers' just as much.

"It's great to bring smiles to our little community!"
