Members of a fitness group based in Ovingham have once again come together for a good cause.

It is the fourth time Diane Shane-Stone, of SS Fitness, has produced a charity calendar to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

Diane, 51, first created the calendar after losing her dad Michael Shane, 72, to a grade 4 glioblastoma mulitforme (GBM) tumour in 2016.

She has since raised an impressive running total of £16,000 for Brain Tumour Research, through producing the annual calendar and organising other fundraising events.

Diane said: "I’m so proud of my wonderful clients, they’re a special lot. The calendar is a really good fun community project and I feel honoured to have these people in my fitness classes."

"Dad was a real doer and did a lot to help people so he would love the fact that we’re doing this. I just want to do something positive, so others don’t have to go through what Dad did."

The charity calendar has a different theme each year. This year features local people posing as pop icons from the 1980s and 1990s.

In the past, it has featured people posing as famous duos including the Queen and Prince Philip, and Absolutely Fabulous's Patsy and Edina.

Every person posing as a pop icon is either a client or a class member of SS Fitness. Both of Diane's sons, Charlie, 13, and older brother Ben, 24, also appear respectively as George Michael and Prince.

The front page presents The Spice Girls; featuring Hexham Courant reporter Georgia Langdon as Baby Spice, Anne Jones as Sporty Spice, Gill Lavery posing as Ginger, Sarah Stokoe as Posh, and Louise Hunter as Scary Spice.

The calendar can be bought at SS Fitness, Savannah Hair Salon in Stocksfield, or GTP Mortgages in Hexham.

Local businesses have funded the calendar's production, which means all proceeds go directly to Brain Tumour Research.

Some supporting businesses include Savannah Hair Salon, Wylam Plastering, and Tyne Valley Hardwood Logs.

Others such as The Will Guys, Ridgetek Web Solutions, and IR Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Services also helped support the charity calendar.

Each business sponsors a page which pays for printing costs, and details of each business is included within the calendar.

The calendar will be on sale from December 6 for £7.99.
