A CHRISTMAS fair has raised more than £1,000 for two charities.
The Corbridge Youth Initiative event saw around 200 visitors attend with £1,032 raised for its work and the Charlotte Straker project.
The young people developed and ran a variety of interesting and entertaining stalls as well as helping to serve coffee, tea and soup for lunch. Volunteers and trustees of the charity ran a cake stall and tombola.
Sean Soulsby, chair of the Corbridge Youth Initiative, said: “Unfortunately, many things had to be cancelled in 2020/21 because of the pandemic but I am delighted that this important Christmas event has been so well supported by local people.
“The Youth Initiative in Corbridge involves over 100 local young people each week in our various sessions, helping their development in many different ways. Its importance cannot be underestimated.”
