New electric vehicle charging points have been installed in Haydon Bridge.

Residents of Haydon Bridge can charge their electric vehicles with two new 'fast-charging points' in the public car park behind the Community Centre.

The chargers are now 'live' and were installed by Cumbrian social enterprise Charge my Street.

Steve Ford, Community Association President, said “Haydon Bridge community association have taken the opportunity to enable the installation of these chargers to benefit the community as well as those passing by. We have had an efficient partnership with Charge my Street and hope that the facility will be widely used.”

“These are for the use of the whole community and visitors alike."

“Putting the chargers behind the Community Centre will avoid worsening the existing on-street parking problems elsewhere in the parish.”

Daniel Heery, Director of Charge my Street said “There are now two charge points within 5 minutes walk of many of the terraced houses in Haydon Bridge now, so it’s easier than ever to make the switch to an electric car.”

“It’s been fantastic to work with Haydon Bridge Community Association for this installation. They have shown a real desire to do something for their community and that’s been obvious throughout.
