NEW street lights are to be installed on two sets of A69 slip roads.

National Highways will replace lighting columns with a new, LED lighting system at Horsley from Monday, November 29 and Throckley early in the New Year.

The work will take place from approximately 9am to 4pm Monday- to Friday and affects the westbound entry and eastbound exit slip roads at Horsley and the east and westbound entry and exit slip roads at Throckley.

National Highways project manager Michael Morgan said: “The lights on these slip roads are nearing the end of their useful life so are being replaced with more modern, energy efficient ones. These not only emit less carbon than traditional lights, they also have safety benefits as they reach full brightness as soon as they come on without the need to warm up. They’re also longer lasting, requiring less maintenance and the associated disruption that brings to road users.”

Lane closures will be in place on each slip road for the duration of the work and temporary traffic lights will sometimes be required over Throckley and Horsley bridges.
