A HAIR salon in Hexham is moving to a new location.

Saks, a family-run salon, will be located at 9 Cattle Market, which is just up the road from the current salon on Priestpopple.

Stylist Shannon Currah said: "We have been here at the salon for 20 years and it is just the right time for us to go for more of a boutique feel.

"Although the place is smaller it's got a bigger floor plan so we can fit more chairs in. We're going to have a beautiful new fit with all the Saks furniture and upgrade that way."

Though no official date has been set, they are hoping to be moved into the new salon in December.

Shannon said: "The whole team is very excited. It is going to be exactly the same team and the same ethos just in a different salon and we can't wait."

In 2020 a new grant was launched by Northumberland County Council to improve the state of Hexham's high street.

The grant is called The Heritage Action zone and it will improve areas including; Priestpopple, Cattle Market and Battle Hill.

As Saks will be moving onto Cattle Market, they hope to support the project with their new shop front.

Shannon said to be part of Hexham's up and coming area is 'exciting' as the area will see new paving and streetlights alongside the new Saks shopfront when it is completed.

The new salon has already generated lots of interest on social media and spaces for appointments are filling up fast.

Shannon said: "We do have some spaces in December but they are filling up fast. i think people will come down to look at the place whether they need a haircut or not.

"I think we're going to be double busy this Christmas."
