A SHEEP died after being hit by a car, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to a collision on the A169 near Greenhead at 7pm last night.
The driver was uninjured but the sheep died.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 7pm yesterday (Wednesday) we received a report of a collision between a car and livestock on the A169 near Greenhead.
"The driver of the car was uninjured but the animal, a sheep, died in the collision."
