POLICE officers were called out to Ponteland this week after it was reported that a group of people had been throwing fireworks.

Officers were called to the Darras Road area on Sunday following reports of anti-social behaviour.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “It was reported that a group had been throwing fireworks near the memorial hall and acting in an anti-social manner.

“Officers were deployed to the scene and carried out increased patrols in the area.”
