A JOBS fair which was attended by over 75 employers from across the North East and attended by hundreds of people from across the region has been branded a success.

Organised by Hexham MP Guy Opperman, and Hexham Jobcentre Plus, the annual Tynedale Jobs Fair was staged at the Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham.

The event was sponsored by Essity, and supported by Northumberland County Council.

A spokesman for Essity said: “Guy and his colleagues played a blinder in organising another successful jobs fair.

"We had a huge number of jobseekers visit us, and chat through the wide range of vacancies on offer.

"It was also great to see so many school students keen to get our advice on subject choices they should make to improve their chances of a place on our apprentice scheme.”

Hundreds of jobs were on offer from over 70 local and national employers, such as Britishvolt, Nissan, Network Rail, Aldi and McDonalds. This year’s event also included a ‘Kickstart Zone’ for young people on Universal Credit, and dedicated CV writing advice area.

Guy Opperman MP said: “I am delighted with the brilliant success of this year’s Tynedale Jobs Fair! A big thank you to my own team, Chris Howard and the staff at Hexham Jobcentre Plus, our sponsors Essity, and more than 70 local employers who showcased the hundreds of jobs on offer.

As we build back better from the pandemic, jobs must be our focus, and the event showcased the huge range of opportunities available.”
