A huge bounce back win against a good Hebburn side remedied the disappointment of last weekend’s home defeat to Walkergate.

With 10 players missing, Hexham were under strength as were Hebburn, with both sides only having one fit sub.

However, Hexham started the brighter, with Jamie Connor latching on to a ball over the top from Alex Waters. Connor powered home a half volley to open the scoring.

He made it 2-0 not long after, diverting Will Turnbull’s free kick and wrong footing the keeper.

Connor then completed his hat-trick as he was sent racing clear and he rounded the keeper making it 3-0 at half time.

With a change of shape in the second half, bringing Alex Waters into midfield, Hexham were able to run away with the game, displaying superior fitness and constant running up front.

Waters notched one into the bottom corner before providing Dan Simpson with his first of the game.

Four minutes later, Simpson scored his second and Hexham’s sixth before Matthew Nesti completed the scoring in the 76th minute.

Jamie Connor was awarded Man of the Match for his excellent hat-trick and tireless running.

Seth Robbie also impressed on debut in goal, keeping Hexham’s second clean sheet of the season. The u18 keeper was commanding and distributed well for the full game.
