PLANS have been submitted to change the use of upper floors of office and retail units into apartments.

The plans have been submitted for 28A Fore Street, Hexham. As of yet, the plans have not been approved.

The proposals are sought permission to convert the existing unused upper two floors into four residential apartments spread over the two floors and created entirely within the existing structure.

Four apartments will be created, one to be used as a two bed and three to be used as one bed apartments.

The exterior of the property will remain unchanged along with the scale of the property, the existing entrance from Fore Street leading to a staircase will be utilised as the main entrance to the flats.

On the interior minimal additional walls are proposed except where new individual rooms will be created or separation required for fire and sound between each apartment.

A new door will be created, for fire safety and escape purposes, as well to access the rear yard for bins, this will require the existing window on the landing to be enlarged to create a door opening. This will be the only minor alteration to the historic fabric of the building.
