A COMMUNITY group is taking part in a global climate strike.

Stomping Grounds Forest School, Prudhoe, will be joining Fridays for Future Climate Strike to to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis.

The event will run on October 22 from 10am-2pm at Dukes Hagg Wood.

Sophie Watkinson, executive director of Stomping Grounds Forest School, said: "In celebration of young people who have chosen to take action, we have decided to support the Fridays for Future Climate Strike.

"Feel free to join us for a day in the woods;this event is suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult unless otherwise agreed with us.

"We'll be celebrating the action you have taken to support a better future for the children of all species and we'll provide some provocations and activities to promote discussion around the climate and what we can do to make a difference and have our voices heard."

The event is free but donations are welcome to cover costs associated with hosting.

"This is a fantastic initiative which I fully support", said Northumberland County Councillor, Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South.

"The forest school is located in a beautiful part of the county and has in such a short time of locating in Prudhoe, become a highly respected and cherished part of our community."
