YOU may have seen some of the WeFibre fliers that were sent out a few weeks ago regarding full-fibre broadband in Wylam. This project is partly funded via Government vouchers and requires at least 100 people to sign up to make the project commercially viable. This figure hasn’t been reached yet, so if anyone is interested in the service, please sign up at the earliest opportunity by completing the form at https://wefibre.com/grants/ and accepting the voucher from the DCMS when the email comes through. This is a great opportunity to bring modern infrastructure to the area. Full-fibre broadband is delivered to the home via a fibre optic cable, more reliable and significantly faster than the “superfast” broadband currently on offer. For most people, 1Gbps will be approximately 20x faster than what is available now. The service is being advertised at £20 a month with free installation, making it one of the cheapest options on the market right now - so well worth considering even if you feel you don’t need the speed.
