Reports of a man who was believed to have approached a young girl has been investigated by police.
Northumbria Police received a report of an incident where a 12-year-old girl was approached by a man in what was believed to be a taxi on September 28.
The incident was said to have happened in St Helen's Street, Corbridge at around 4.30pm.
However, following a detailed investigation, officers said the incident was 'not what it seemed'.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Following reports of a man acting suspiciously in St Helen’s Street, Corbridge on Tuesday, September 28, police have carried out enquiries and it has been established the incident was not as originally reported and was made in good faith.
"There are no ongoing safety concerns and we thank the community for their understanding in this matter.”
