Waldridge Park U23s 1

Hexham U23s 5

Hexham's Under-23 side made it two wins in a row, after putting in a dominant performance away in Waldridge Park.

Ollie Scott opened the scoring after just 15 seconds, as Hexham started brightly.

Will Turnbull switched the play from the kick off, leaving Scott in a one-on-one situation with the keeper. He slotted across the keeper and into the corner.

Hexham made it two through Will Burns. Adam Newton’s floated corner deceived the keeper and left Will with a simple tap-in.

Finn Marsden got Hexham’s third before the break, finishing off the best move of the day.

Alfie Maloney won the ball back in left back, and Hexham played through the thirds with Burns and Newton playing one and two touch play. Then Marsden raced clear and slotted past the on-coming keeper.

Waldridge Park pulled one back and denied debutant Nathan Byerly a clean sheet, in an otherwise comfortable display.

Marsden scored a second and Hexham’s fourth before Jamie Connor made it five. Good work from Matthew Nesti, squaring the ball gave Connor a tap in.

Hexham had chances to extend their lead, but for good saves from the keeper, it could have been more.

Will Burns was voted man of the match, closely run by Adam Newton, with both players outstanding.
