CAPHEATON Hall is seeking permission to construct three cottages in the village.

Owner William Browne-Swinburne has applied to Northumberland County Council for permission to also renovate and extend two existing cottages, which are Grade II listed, on Front Street to provide two two-bedroom homes.

The new homes would be adjacent to the existing cottages. The site sits within the wider Capheaton Hall Estate.

Two of the proposed new cottages will have three bedrooms, while the third will be a four-bedroom family home.

There are plans for a one-way driveway around the back of the site, and five garages would be constructed to its rear boundary, with parking spaces formed in-between.

According to plans, the new cottages will be constructed from natural stone to "match and blend" with the existing neighbouring properties to the east and west.

In a planning, design and access statement submitted alongside the application on behalf of the applicant, it said the scheme is being brought forward by the Estate "with the full support of the local community".

It adds: "The introduction of new and improved residential properties will help to attract new families to the village, bringing a welcomed injection of vibrancy and high-quality revitalisation of the village; building on the Estate's long term vision and investment into creating a sustainable, healthy and viable community at Capheaton."
