BOTH Northumberland County Council and Fire Service have taken to social media to warn residents about flooding.

The MET Office has issued flood warnings across the UK, due to heavy downpours overnight and throughout the morning causing surface water on the roads.

In a tweet, Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said: "We've reporters of standing water on our roads due to rain. our teams are working to clear as many of the issues s possible.

"Help us by reporting road flooding. Please drive according to the weather, lights on, slow down."

A message which was echoed by Northumberland County Council asking people to drive safely and report any flooding they see.

The MET office has also warned for more unsettled either expected throughout the wee.

Today there will be some very wet and windy conditions, with outbreaks of locally heavy rain, which will clear away east during Monday morning, with sunny spells and scatted blustery showers by afternoon.
