A long-standing rotary club member has been honoured with a Paul Harris Fellowship.

Tynedale Rotary Club presented member Edward Stokoe, of Riding Mill, with the prestigious award, named after the founder of Rotary.

The award recognises service both to the club and to the local, national and international community.

Making the award, Tynedale president, Michael Gibbney, spoke of Edward's endless support for the charity and its fund-raising events over the last 32 years.

Founder of the club’s annual golf day and chairman of the charity golf committee, year after year, he has demonstrated leadership and successful efforts. For many years he has also reviewed the charity's accounts and made sure they are in order.

Despite a recent health issue, Edward has maintained his membership and contact with the club which has given him the award for service and humanitarian efforts in the local community and the Tynedale Rotary Club.
