The sale of a village’s former post office has been completed, it was confirmed this week.

On Tuesday, Wylam Parish Council put a statement on social media to update residents about the situation regarding the former post office. 

The council said: “The parish council is delighted to announce that it has now completed the sale of 3-4 Laburnum Terrace – the old post office.  

“The property was sold to local residents who will be living in the property. 

“The parish council is happy that the property, which is in the heart of the village, is being brought back into residential use.”

The council added that now the sale was complete it would be considering how best to use the funds, that had been generated to benefit the local community. 

“We will be meeting shortly to discuss this and will of course be looking at how best to involve residents in this process," the statement from the council explained.  

“We will provide a further update on this once we have more information.”
