A man accused of dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident has been sent to Crown Court for trial.

Michael Ward, 40, of Capel Avenue, Haltwhistle, was before Newcastle Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He is accused of driving a Nissan Micra dangerously on Sunday, April 18 this year on Elswick Road, Newcastle.

He is also charged with failing to stop after a road accident on the same day on Bruce Gardens where damage was caused to a Ford Transit.

And on the same date he is accused of driving on Clifton Road where an accident occurred which caused injury to a person and that he failed to report and produce insurance.

Ward has been given unconditional bail and his case has been sent to Crown Court for trial. His next hearing will be on October 18.
