A Prudhoe man who produced cannabis has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Anthony Gormley, 45, of Rolley Way, indicated a plea of guilty to the charge of producing a quantity of cannabis when his case came before Newcastle Magistrates' Court last Wednesday (September 15).

The offence happened on April 4 this year in Prudhoe. It placed him in breach of a suspended sentence he received on November 16, 2020, for possessing an offensive weapon.

He has now been sentenced to four months imprisonment, suspended for 13 months.

Gormley was also fined £321, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85.
