MEMBERS of Haltwhistle Town Council have gathered in the hospital’s Memorial Gardens along with family and friends of Diana Robison BEM who sadly passed away last year during the pandemic.

Diana retired early from her role as a teacher at Seaham Grammar school to come to Haltwhistle and look after her mother. She soon became an enthusiastic supporter of the town and its residents.

She was an active member of the church, a member of the Bardon Mill WI and involved with the dementia group.

However, it was her work in the hospital that stood out, where she touched the hearts of many of the patients; visiting on a regular basis to hand out jelly babies and sweets along with a sympathetic ear.

Diana was awarded the BEM on the New Years Honours list in January 2019 in recognition of the services to the community in Haltwhistle.
