A LOCAL theatre charity has scooped up a top accolade.

Mortal Fools, based in Prudhoe, has won a Journal Culture award.

The group picked up in the award in the Best Arts and Business Partnership for its work on Melva Digital with Vida Creative - a programme for Key Stage Two aged children, teachers and families to support wellbeing and mental health.

Mortal Fools is no stranger to success and continued to operate throughout the Covid pandemic.

“We are over the moon to win this award which recognises what can be achieved through dynamic, innovative and purpose-driven partnerships", said Kiz Crosbie, Mortal Fools' CEO.

"Our collaboration with Vida Creative not only provided work for many brilliant freelance artists during the pandemic, but has resulted in the creation of a fun, engaging and impactful creative digital programme to support children’s mental health at a very timely moment.

"We’re excited to make this available to more schools and groups across the UK from this autumn.”

The charity said schools could register their interest to find out more about purchasing the full Melva digital school’s package and families can purchase Melva Mapletree & the Quest for Barnabas Boggle via: www.melva.org.uk

A public screening of Melva: The Feature Film will be held at at Gosforth Civic Theatre on October 28 – tickets available via: http://www.gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk/mortal-fools-melva...
