IT was a successful day for Ponteland United Reserves in the Northern Football Alliance second division.

The Ponteland side slammed five past visitors Cullercoats Reserves to take the points on offer with Cullercoats only managing one in reply.

The Ponteland goals came from Alex Hastings, Myles Candlish, Aaron Hadfield, Tom Clark and an own goal.

In the premier division Prudhoe Youth Club put up a fight on their trip to Killingworth but in the end the home side just had the edge in a 2-1 victory.

Prudhoe would have been disappointed to leave with nothing from a hard fought game, with Sam Dibb-Fuller their goal scorer.

And Ponteland United went down 2-0 in the top flight at the hands of Gateshead Rutherford AFC.

Turning to division one, it wasn't a good day for Hexham either as they lost out in a tight game at the home of Newcastle Independent.

Only one goal was scored in the 90 minutes and it went the way of the home side.
