THE Corbridge Village Show will go ahead this year.

The village show committee have decided this year's event will take place on September 4 on a scaled back basis with Covid-19 restrictions in the place.

Although there won't be as many classes as usual, there will still be a display of locally grown leeks, flowers and vegetables.

There will also be two children’s classes.

Chairman Miles Middleton said: “Each year the show has got stronger with more entries and visitors and a stunning display of local leek, flower and vegetable growing alongside the industrial classes and activities for children.

"Sadly, last year we had to cancel the show but this year we will be going ahead with fewer classes but you can still expect to be amazed by the skills of our local gardeners.

"Please come along and support us.”

County Councillor for Corbridge Nick Oliver said: “I’m really pleased to see the show going ahead this year.

"People haven’t stopped gardening during the pandemic, quite the opposite.

"It’s great that they will be able to show the fruits of the labour and it’s events like this that bring the community together."
