THIS September people across the UK will be taking part in a 200 mile bike ride to raise money for Cancer Research.

Rebecca Moss, 39, will be one of those taking park. Like many people across the UK Rebecca knows the affect cancer has on families and wants to help make a difference.

Rebecca, said: "Recently I had friends affected by cancer and I heard about the cycling challenge in September.

"I thought in the space of the month I'd be able to fit it in with my shifts ok but it is still going to be a challenege. I am gonna be doing some of my cycle in Scotland, Northumberland and the Lake District to get different terrains."

Hexham Courant:

While raising money for cancer research, Rebecca has been battling some health conditions of her own, after being diagnosed with coronavirus back in January.

Rebecca is still suffering from long covid including extreme fatigue and has early stage  emphysema which has also been affected from the long covid.

She said: "I am pacing myself but I have always been one to push myself and while I have my own health challenges I know it is nothing in comparison to those fighting cancer and we need to raise all we can to help beat cancer together."

Throughout her cycle challenge Rebecca will be joined by her boyfriend to support her and encourage her and will have her family supporting from home.

People can still donate to Rebecca's fundraising effort and donations can be made up to the end of October.

Rebecca, who turns 40 next year, is also taking part in a year of fundraising in 2022. Rebecca aims to complete the equivilant of 40 miles a week, every week of 2022 to raise money for Meningitis Now.

Rebecca, said: It is thanks to them that my mum knew the signs to look for when a doctor misdiagnosed me with a throat infection a few days before my fifth birthday. So I want to mark this special birthday with that charity benefiting."
