Young golfer wins national tournament
A YOUNG golfer from the North East is the new English U16 Girls' Champion.
Maggie Whitehead, who is also champion of Close House Ladies Club, won the national competition at Morecambe Golf Club yesterday.
She was the only contestant to golf under-par, coming in at -7.
Close House Golf Club posted: "Wow!! She nailed it! Huge congratulations to our very own Close House ladies club champion 2021 Maggie Whitehead, who has just won the England Open U16 Championship with a stunning -7 under par total and finished a phenomenal 9 points clear.
"Everyone at Close House is super proud of you!"
