VIRAL comedian Gary Meikle will be in Newcastle and Stockton on a tour of the country later this year after his show 'Surreal' launches in August.

Following his meteoric rise after his hilarious video rant about his daughter's eyebrows went viral in 2019, award-winning Scottish comedian Gary Meikle is set to tour the country later this year with his brand-new stand-up show 'Surreal' (28th Aug - 16th Jan), as he attempts to make sense of the madness.

His video got more than four million views on Facebook in 2019 and in total he's racked up over 150 million. He planned to tour last year but his plans were put on hold when the country was sprung into lockdown, which means he's had an extra 12 months to work on his material.

Gary has his unique family dynamic - he became a father at the age of 17 and raised his daughter as a single dad, before becoming a grandfather at just 39, and now lives happily with both his daughter and granddaughter.

His material stems from dealing with his daughter's first period, to meeting her boyfriends, and Meikle gets much of his comic material from his experiences of being a lone parent and grandparent.

Of what to expect from his new show, Gary said: “2019 was such a surreal year for me when the videos took off, and I was just getting ready to hit the theatres across the country with this brand-new show in 2020 when COVID hit.

"I’ve been stuck in lockdown with two generations of formidable Meikle women, and let me tell you, after that, my daughter and granddaughter are just as excited to be waving me off on this tour as I am to be getting on stage again!”

Among his UK tour dates, he'll be visiting:

Newcastle, Tyne Theatre - Friday 10th September 2021

Stockton, Arts Centre - Saturday 2nd October 2021
