THERE have been some worrying forecasts over the last and next few days in the area. Events and trips have been cancelled, and Northumberland Fire and Rescue issued the following warning.

On Twitter they said: "Got some heavy rain on the way folks. If you're driving - lights on, keep your distance and take your time. Drive to the conditions."

Here is what you need to know:

Wednesday 28

On Wednesday, it should be relatively fine - with showers in some places - until 4.00pm, when a light rain cloud will come over the region.  Light rain is forecast over Hexham and heavy rain in Prudhoe at 5.00pm.  Thunderstorms are also forecast in Prudhoe this afternoon at 3.00pm, before the clouds give way at 6.00pm and no further rain is forecast for the rest of the evening.

Hexham Courant:

Thursday

On Thursday, the morning looks drab as the rain is scheduled to move in at 4.00am.  There is a possibility of rain from then until 9.00am, with the highest probabilities at 7.00am and 9.00am.  Again, thunder and lightning is possible in Prudhoe at 3.00pm, with rain until 5.00pm.

Hexham Courant:

The rest of Thursday in Hexham should be dry, however, and there is even a chance of sun in the early afternoon, with temperatures reaching 19 degrees.

Friday

Friday is when the weather looks to take a turn for the better in time for the weekend.  It's likely to be cloudy but mostly dry - with a 60% chance of rain at 4.00pm but low the rest of the day.

Prudhoe is similar, with a slightly lower chance of rain at 4.00pm, running through to 7.00pm.

Hexham Courant:

Weekend

Anything over three days away is very hard to forecast, but it is looking like cloudy mornings with snatches of sun in the afternoons on Saturday and Sunday.  Precipitation chances are very low for each day.

Flood Risks

Even though some rain and even thunderstorms are forecast for the next few days, the Met Office hasn't issued any flood warnings for the region.

It might be a good time to get on Netflix for that show you have been putting off watching rather than hitting the fells or parks.
