A council is urging members of the public to dispose of their barbecues properly this summer.
After the warm spell of weather that saw temperatures soar across Cumbria, Copeland Borough Council are urging people to make sure that their disposable barbecues are properly watered down before being binned.
In a plea on social media, the council said that barbecues and fire ash should be "properly watered down with cold water and cooled before disposing of them".
Online advice also states that barbecues should be kept well away from sheds, fences, trees, shrubs and garden waste.
It adds that a bucket of cold water, sand, or a garden hose should also be kept close to hadn in case of an emergency.
