A WOMAN who has served the community for 40 years has been presented with a Coronavirus Community Champion Award.

Prudhoe’s Kiran Bell was presented the award by local MP Guy Opperman and Prudhoe councillor Gordon Stewart.

Coronavirus Community Champions Awards are selected by local residents to recognise businesses and individuals who have gone above and beyond to support the local community throughout the pandemic.

Kiran was nominated for her work to support the community in Boots, ensuring vulnerable people continued to receive medication and essential supplies.

Guy Opperman MP said: “It was brilliant to present this award to Kiran.

“Her team and her have worked tremendously hard throughout the pandemic to support members of our community.”

Coun. Gordon Stewart added: “Prudhoe is a vibrant, modern town with a long history and great community spirit, which has really helped us all get through the pandemic.

“Kiran has been there at the helm supporting our community.”

Kiran was delighted to pick up the award. She said: “It is a honour to receive my award and to be recognised for the hard work my team and I have put in throughout this difficult year.

“I thoroughly enjoy my job, being a friendly face on the high street where I have worked for over 40 years. Turning my customers into friends.”
