A HEXHAM Scout has been presented with a prestigious award.
Elliott Ford (14), a member of 1st Hexham Scout Group, has received a Chief Scouts Gold Award, the highest award a Scout can achieve.
Stuart Ford, the Group Scout Leader and Elliott's father, said it was the culmination of several years hard work from Elliott, covering the requirements of the Adventure, World, Creative, Outdoor, Skills, Personal, Expedition, Teamwork and Team Leader Challenges.
"It was particularly difficult during lockdown to complete some of the required elements but determination was shown to get it done," Stuart said.
The award was presented by Bobby Hubbuck, a former Assistant District Commissioner who retired from scouting during the pandemic.
Stuart said they are looking to start an Explorer section (for 14 to 18 year olds). If anybody is interested in helping with an Explorer section they can email Stuart.Ford@northumberlandscouts.org.uk.
