A roadshow designed to help both adults and children get on their bikes is set to visit the county this week.

The Go Smarter, Go Active Roadshow is set to visit Ponteland Leisure Centre between July 22-25 and is part of a seven-week extravaganza of cycling in the North East.

The free scheme has been designed to help everyone who visits gain vital cycling skills and help them learn about sustainable travel also.

“We want to do all we can to support walking and cycling in the North East, encouraging more and more people out of their cars, making the switch to greener, active travel," said Cllr Martin Gannon, Chair of the North East Joint Transport Committee.

“As restrictions ease, we’re delighted to be providing these events with the aim of helping local people to improve their cycling ability, confidence and knowledge.
