MANY football fans have enjoyed being able to watch the Euro 2020 games in an indoor pub setting after venues were shut for so long.

Although celebrations may not be quite the same, with social distancing measures still in place and it being table service only, there are still great options for people to enjoy the games.

‘Football’s coming home' echoed around many Tynedale pubs on Tuesday after England beat Germany 2-0 to reach the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.

The Three Lions will play against Ukraine in Rome this Saturday.

We asked Hexham Courant readers on social media to recommend some of the best pubs in Tynedale to watch the football.

Here, in no particular order, is what you said:

1 THREE TUNS, HEDDON-ON-THE-WALL

Three Tuns, on the Military Road in Heddon-on-the-Wall, was one of the pubs recommended.

Heddon United Football Club said: "There ain’t no place better!”

A Google reviewer commented on the large TV screens the pub has, as well as the “good food and service” and the “great variety of good beers”.

The pub has a beer garden too.

2 THE GRAPES HOTEL, HEXHAM

Another recommendation was The Grapes Hotel in Hexham.

It was suggested by Jayne Jones and Sophie Bowman.

Sophie commented that it had lots of screens and a large projector up in the beer garden.

“Brilliant when it’s dark!” she said.

The Grapes’ manager, Carla Rowley, has said: “The Euros have given us a lift, they’re cheering everyone up a bit and the weather is helping.

“We’re getting some sense of normality back.”

The pub is on St Mary’s Chare.

3 THE BLUE BELL, CORBRIDGE

Rachie Peel said The Blue Bell, in Corbridge, was the best place to watch football games.

The Blue Bell, on Hill Street, also has a beer garden.
