A MAN has been handed a community order after he admitted assaulting a police officer.
Daniel Veitch, 23, of Beaver Road, Carlisle, appeared at the city's magistrate's court on Friday.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of assaulting a police officer and one charge of drug driving.
Both charges related to an incident on September 6 2020. The court heard Veitch drove his Ford Ranger on Dentron Street in Carlisle when under the influence of a controlled drug, namely cocaine.
Veitch had already admitted both charges at a hearing on May 21. He was sentenced on Friday, and handed a community order that requires him to complete 100 hours unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.
