THE MP for Hexham has urged young people aged 25 and over to book their Covid-19 vaccine.

All adults aged 25 and over are now eligible to book a coronavirus jab and since bookings opened, the service has seen a ‘Glastonbury style’ rush for appointments.

In December, Margaret Keenan became the world’s first person to be vaccinated with a clinically approved vaccine and now, more than 68 million doses have been delivered across the UK.

Guy Opperman is now calling on young people across Northumberland to book their vaccine as soon as possible.

He said: "Vaccinating all adults is crucial to cutting transmission and keeping Covid under control – especially with the emergence of new variants.

"Now bookings have opened for those aged 25 and over, I urge all young people to get vaccinated, so we can protect everyone in our community.

"Hexham has, so far, had one of the highest vaccine uptakes in the country.

"The incredible work of the vaccine programme organisers, health workers, and volunteers – both nationally and locally – is helping to protect our community here in Tynedale and Ponteland.”
