Tom Waugh took six wickets in Haydon Bridge’s win over Humshaugh on Saturday afternoon in the West Tyne Cricket League.

Bowler Waugh helped his side to a 67 run win after helping bowl out the away side for 71 with six wickets including a hat trick. Haydon Bridge had earlier set their opponents 139 to win.

At the top, Stamfordham made it two wins in as many days with victories over Benwell Hill and South Northumberland.

On Saturday, they sealed a four-wicket win Delon Lott top scoring with 45, while on Sunday they beat South Northumberland by five wickets, with Nick Schofield impressing with the ball.

Also in Division One, Haltwhistle defeated Newton by 21 runs with Phillip Thompson top scoring for the side with a knock of 55.

After being set 173 to win by the home side, Newton could only manage a response of 151/7 from their 40 overs.

Matfen beat Belsay by 49 runs, Mitford defeated Hexham Leazes by just three runs, and Wylam took a five wicket win over South Northumberland on Saturday afternoon.

In Division Two, Mitford 2nds now have a six point lead over Haltwhistle 2nds after they defeated Hexham Leazes 2nds by a huge 191 runs.

Their win was inspired by a fine performance from opening batsman Tom Carmichael who hit 117 as they went on to set a score of 325/7 from their 40 overs. Leazes could only manage a response of 134 all out.

Third placed Riding Mill suffered a defeat to Mitford’s third XI by four wickets, while Humshaugh beat Allendale despite the away side’s John Raglan hitting 97.

The winners also saw Robbie Sewell hit his first 50 for the club and Glenn Tweddle hit 61 not out.

Clara Vale beat Stocksfield by 118 runs while Wark conceded to Medomsley in the other matches to take place last weekend.
