A North Tyne café and bed and breakfast has announced its temporary closure due to Covid-19.

The Fountain Cottage Café and B & B in Bellingham has closed its doors after one of its staff members tested positive for Coronavirus.

In a post on the café and B and Bs Facebook page, it said: “The safety of our Customers and staff is paramount to us so unfortunately we have to take the following steps.

“The staff member works behind the scenes and is not customer facing, so noe of our customers have been in contact with the staff member. They work only 1 or 2 shifts per week and have not been at work since Saturday.”

“We have contacted track and trace, who said that anyone working within 2 metres of this person must self isolate for 10 days and get tested. This doesn’t include customers, as none of them were in contact with the staff member.

“We are in the process of getting all staff whom worked on Saturday tested and in isolation.”

The café will be closed for at least 10 days until June 16, but the B and B is able to continue operating with skeleton staff.
