Northumberland Mountain Rescue teams were called out on Bank Holiday Monday to attend to an injured walker.

Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team were called out to Steel Rigg just after midday on Monday, May 31 to assist a woman who had sustained a lower leg injury near Milecastle 39 on Hadrian’s Wall.

Two medics assisted the casualty, stabilising the injury and providing pain relief before she was taken to Steel Rigg Car Park on a stretcher to waiting vehicles from the North East Ambulance Service.

In a post on Facebook, Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team wished the injured walker a full recovery, also saying that they hoped she would return to Northumberland soon.
