A PROPOSAL for 65 homes to be built on Green Belt land in Ponteland is set to be submitted.

The proposal, which is headed up by Karbon Homes, IDPartnership and Esh Living, will focus on providing a ‘wide range’ of housing, including starter homes and affordable family homes.

The proposal of 65 new affordable homes includes ten two bedroom bungalows, 24 three bedroom homes, seven two bedroom homes and 24 two bedrooms apartments for retirement living.

Developers say that the focus of the development will be to allow local people who have perhaps had to move out of the area to find accommodation that meets their needs, to return back to their roots. It also plans to give young local people starting out on the property ladder or those that wish to downsize to more suitable accommodation options.

The project aims to offer local people the chance to get on the home ownership ladder through Rent to Buy and Shared Ownership, as well as looking to include homes for older people who may want to downsize and continue to live independently.

Developers say that careful consideration has been given by the design team to ensure a ‘high quality, simple and contemporary’ architectural solution in keeping with the local area.

A website has been created as a pre-planning public consultation, where residents are encouraged to give their thoughts and comments on the scheme.
