A challenge event in the region is set to return bigger and better than ever next week.

The Walltown Warrior, which will take place at Walltown Country Park near Greenhead, is set to welcome people of all ages and abilities on June 3 and 4 to take on a 3km course that has been designed with fun in mind.

Taking place near Hadrian’s Wall, visitors will be able to slide, climb and jump their way accross the specially created course that has been designed to welcome anyone and everyone.

The course, which has been designed by Challenge Northumberland, is set to have features including running through tyres, ninja steps and a scramble net.

“Walltown Warrior is a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to come together, make memories, and enjoy a fun-filled challenge event within the Northumberland National Park,” said Mandy Roberts, Engagement Officer at Northumberland National Park Authority.

“The two-day event is being held at Walltown Country Park which offers spectacular views, woodlands and wildlife, making it the perfect setting for people of all ages to enjoy.”

2021 will mark the second running of the event after its inaugural appearance two years ago before the coronavirus pandemic forced it not to go ahead in 2020.

“After an incredibly tricky time for many of us, it’s important for people to take time out to reconnect with each other and with nature,” added Mandy.

“It’s the second year we’ve run the event, in partnership with Challenge Northumberland, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Walltown Country Park on the 3rd and 4th June.”

Located at Walltown Country Park, the two day competition is set to also benefit from a number of stunning views of Hadrian’s Wall and the surrounding countryside.

Competitors are advised that they’ll get wet and muddy when on the course, so are asked to not bring their cleanest and most valuable clothes!

The event is open to anyone aged six and over, no matter their fitness level or ability.
